Types of Paper Plastic Composite Bag

Paper plastic composite bags are eco-friendly and multifunctional packaging materials formed by laminating paper and plastic layers. They perfectly integrate the printability, texture and environmental friendliness of paper with the waterproof, moisture-proof, tear-resistant and durable properties of plastic. Compared with pure paper bags and pure plastic bags, composite bags overcome the single material defects and are widely used in food packaging, industrial raw material storage, agricultural product packaging and daily commodity packaging. According to structural design, functional characteristics and application scenarios, paper plastic composite bags can be mainly divided into three common types, each with unique performance advantages and targeted application fields.

The first type is ordinary two-in-one paper plastic composite bags, the most basic and mainstream type in the market. This kind of bag is composed of an outer kraft paper layer and an inner polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) plastic film layer. The outer paper layer provides exquisite printing performance and a natural, high-grade appearance, which is conducive to brand display and product promotion. The inner plastic layer acts as a tight barrier to effectively block moisture, dust and minor oil stains. With simple production processes and low cost, two-in-one composite bags are lightweight and flexible, making them suitable for light-load packaging scenarios such as snack foods, tea, nuts and daily cosmetics. They balance practicality and aesthetics, meeting the low-capacity packaging needs of civilian consumer goods.

The second type is reinforced woven paper plastic composite bags, also known as heavy-duty composite bags. Different from ordinary film-laminated bags, their inner layer adopts woven plastic fabric instead of ordinary plastic film, which greatly enhances tensile strength, puncture resistance and load-bearing capacity. The outer paper layer still maintains good printing effects and surface texture, while the woven plastic inner layer can bear heavy loads of 20 to 50 kilograms. This type of bag is not easy to tear or deform during long-distance transportation and stacking, and has excellent moisture and corrosion resistance. It is mainly applied to the packaging of heavy industrial materials, including plastic particles, chemical raw materials, cement, fertilizer and grain crops, and is the core packaging choice for industrial and agricultural bulk materials.

The third type is functional multi-layer paper plastic composite bags with barrier enhancement. On the basis of paper and plastic layers, this type of bag adds special functional layers such as aluminum foil or high-barrier plastic film, forming a three-layer or multi-layer composite structure. The additional functional layers greatly improve the bag’s light resistance, oxygen isolation and fresh-keeping performance, effectively preventing internal products from being oxidized, deteriorated or affected by light and humid air. Although the production cost is relatively high, its comprehensive barrier performance is far better than other types. It is widely used in high-value and easily deteriorated product packaging such as coffee beans, dried fruits, pharmaceutical raw materials and precision electronic accessories, realizing long-term sealed storage of products.

In conclusion, different types of paper plastic composite bags have distinct functional positioning. Ordinary two-in-one bags focus on civilian light packaging, reinforced woven bags target heavy industrial and agricultural packaging, and multi-layer barrier bags serve high-standard fresh-keeping and sealed packaging scenarios. With the upgrading of packaging industry requirements, paper plastic composite bags will continue to be optimized in structure and performance to adapt to diversified market demands.
