High Temperature Resistance of Aluminum Foil Bags

Time:2026-05-25 21:29:05 Author:haokai Click:161

Aluminum foil bags are high-barrier composite packaging materials widely used for food sealing, moisture-proof storage and high-temperature sterilization. Unlike ordinary transparent vacuum bags, aluminum foil bags have excellent heat resistance due to their special metal-plastic composite structure. However, their maximum withstand temperature varies greatly according to different inner-layer materials. Many users mistakenly believe that all aluminum foil bags can be boiled or heated, which easily causes bag deformation, delamination and food safety risks. Understanding the accurate high-temperature resistance range is essential for correct daily and industrial use.

Ordinary household aluminum foil bags adopt PET, aluminum foil and PE composite structure. The PE inner layer limits their heat resistance performance. This type of aluminum foil bag can only withstand a maximum safe temperature of 70 to 80 degrees Celsius. It is only suitable for room-temperature storage, refrigeration preservation and normal-temperature sealed packaging. If the temperature exceeds 80 degrees Celsius, the inner plastic layer will soften, shrink and melt, resulting in broken sealing, bag wrinkling and gas leakage. Therefore, ordinary aluminum foil bags are strictly prohibited from boiling, steaming or high-temperature heating.

High-grade retort aluminum foil bags use RCPP or CPP high-temperature resistant inner materials. This professional structure greatly improves thermal stability and can resist high temperature of 121 degrees Celsius for long-term sterilization, which is the industry standard for food high-temperature cooking. Some enhanced industrial-grade aluminum foil bags can even withstand instantaneous high temperature of 135 degrees Celsius. These high-temperature resistant aluminum foil bags are specially designed for vacuum cooked food, braised products, seafood and medicinal materials, supporting high-pressure steam sterilization without deformation, delamination or harmful substance precipitation.

It is important to note that although aluminum foil itself is metal and resistant to high temperature, the overall heat resistance of the bag depends on the plastic inner layer. In addition, aluminum foil bags cannot be used in microwave heating because the metal aluminum foil will reflect microwaves, causing sparking and equipment damage. In conclusion, common aluminum foil bags resist up to 80°C, while professional retort aluminum foil bags can safely withstand 121°C high-temperature sterilization, providing reliable high-temperature packaging protection for food industry.
