Transparent spout pouches and aluminum foil spout pouches are two mainstream types of food-grade liquid packaging. Both adopt self-standing structures and reusable screw spout designs, meeting the basic needs of leak-proof sealing and portable storage. However, due to differences in material composition, barrier performance, light resistance and appearance, they have distinct advantages and applicable scenarios. There is no absolute better option between the two. Users should choose according to product storage requirements, environmental conditions and sales display needs.
Transparent spout pouches are made of PET and PE composite transparent plastic materials. Their biggest advantage is high visibility. Consumers can directly observe the color, texture and residual volume of the internal liquid, which greatly improves product display and market attractiveness. These pouches are lightweight, low-cost, flexible and not easy to wrinkle during extrusion. They are suitable for light-sensitive stable liquids that do not require strict shading, such as purified water, fruit drinks, detergent and mild condiments. Nevertheless, transparent pouches have obvious shortcomings. They cannot block ultraviolet rays and natural light, so light-sensitive liquids are prone to oxidation, discoloration and flavor loss. Their oxygen and water vapor barrier performance is ordinary, limiting long-term preservation effects.
Aluminum foil spout pouches add a pure aluminum foil barrier layer on the basis of plastic composite materials, forming an opaque metal-plastic structure. Their core strengths are excellent light-shielding and super barrier capabilities. They can completely isolate light, oxygen, moisture and external air, effectively inhibiting liquid oxidation, mildew and ingredient volatilization. This makes them far superior to transparent pouches in long-term fresh-keeping performance. In addition, high-grade aluminum foil spout pouches support 121°C high-temperature retort sterilization, suitable for hot soup, medicinal liquid and high-protein perishable liquids. The only disadvantages are opaque appearance, higher cost and slightly softer bag body without transparent display effect.
In summary, the two types of pouches have their own positioning. Transparent spout pouches are more suitable for short-term sales display and daily stable liquid storage with low cost and good visual effect. Aluminum foil spout pouches are more suitable for long-term preservation, high-temperature sterilization and light-sensitive, easily oxidized high-value liquids. Reasonable selection based on product characteristics can maximize packaging safety and economic benefits.
