Differences Between Thickened and Ordinary Vacuum Packaging Bags

Time:2026-05-25 21:19:21 Author:haokai Click:160

Vacuum packaging bags are divided into ordinary thin models and thickened high-strength models according to material thickness and structural design. Although both types can realize vacuum sealing and food fresh-keeping functions, they differ greatly in material composition, durability, barrier performance, mechanical strength and applicable scenarios. Distinguishing the two types of bags is essential for correct packaging selection, effective food preservation and cost control in daily use and industrial packaging.

First, the most intuitive difference lies in material thickness and structural configuration. Ordinary vacuum bags usually have a thickness of 16 to 20 wires, adopting a single-layer thin composite structure of PA and PE. The material is lightweight and soft with low production cost, suitable for one-time rapid packaging. In contrast, thickened vacuum bags generally have a thickness of 24 wires or above, and most adopt multi-layer composite structures. The increased material thickness and optimized lamination process greatly enhance the overall structural density, making the bag firmer and more three-dimensional without easy deformation.

Second, they show distinct gaps in mechanical resistance and durability. Ordinary vacuum bags have weak tensile and puncture resistance. They are prone to pinhole damage, edge cracking and air leakage when encountering sharp food residues, extrusion or friction during transportation. They are basically disposable and cannot be reused. Thickened vacuum bags feature excellent tear resistance, compression resistance and puncture resistance. They can effectively resist the piercing of bone food, nuts and hard particles, and maintain intact sealing performance after repeated extrusion and stacking. Qualified thickened bags can be cleaned and reused for secondary storage.

Third, barrier performance and application scenarios vary significantly. Ordinary thin bags have limited oxygen and moisture isolation capacity, which is only suitable for short-term storage of dry, non-perishable foods such as ordinary grains and candies. Thickened vacuum bags have denser internal structures, providing better waterproof, oxygen-proof and anti-oxidation effects. They can effectively prolong the shelf life of high-protein, high-moisture and perishable foods including cooked meat, seafood and pickled products. Meanwhile, thickened bags are applicable for long-distance transportation and long-term sealed storage, while ordinary bags are only for short-distance and temporary packaging.

In conclusion, ordinary vacuum bags are cost-effective for disposable short-term light packaging, while thickened vacuum bags excel in durability, safety and long-term preservation. Users can choose reasonably according to storage cycle, food type and transportation conditions to ensure packaging safety and avoid food spoilage.
