How to Seal Vacuum Packaging Bags

Time:2026-05-25 21:19:45 Author:haokai Click:69

Sealing is the core step of vacuum packaging, which directly determines the airtightness, fresh-keeping effect and storage life of vacuum packaging bags. A complete and tight seal can isolate external air, moisture and bacteria, while improper sealing will cause air leakage, bag bulging and food spoilage. There are two mainstream sealing methods for vacuum packaging bags in daily life and industrial production: professional vacuum heat sealing and manual simple sealing. Standard sealing operations and pre-operation precautions are essential to ensure the packaging quality of vacuum bags.

The most commonly used and standard method is electric vacuum heat sealing. This method applies to all ordinary and thickened PA/PE composite vacuum bags and relies on professional vacuum sealing machines to complete integrated air extraction and sealing. Before operation, users need to tidy up the bag opening to ensure no food residues, oil stains or water droplets remain at the sealing position, which can avoid incomplete hot melting and poor adhesion. After flatting the bag mouth and placing it on the sealing strip, the machine will extract internal air rapidly and heat the sealing area instantly. The plastic film at the bag mouth melts under high temperature and fits tightly, forming a flat, firm and airtight seal after natural cooling. This method features high efficiency and good tightness, suitable for food preservation, commodity storage and industrial batch packaging.

For temporary household use without professional equipment, the manual heat sealing method is available. Users can use a household hair straightener or small portable heat sealer for sealing. The operation steps are similar to mechanical sealing. First, remove all sundries from the bag opening, squeeze out excess air manually, and keep the bag mouth flat. Then heat the sealing tool properly, clamp the bag mouth evenly and slide slowly to ensure uniform hot melting of the plastic layer. After a few seconds of cooling, a complete seal is formed. Although manual sealing cannot achieve absolute vacuum effect like professional machines, it can meet daily sealed storage needs.

It is crucial to avoid common sealing mistakes. Excessive residual air, stained bag openings and uneven heating will lead to weak sealing and eventual air leakage. In summary, standardized heat sealing is the key to effective vacuum packaging. Choosing appropriate sealing methods according to usage scenarios can maximize the sealing performance and service life of vacuum bags.
