Material Composition of Vacuum Packaging Bags

Vacuum packaging bags are high-barrier plastic composite packaging materials specially designed for sealed fresh-keeping storage. Different from ordinary plastic bags, their material formula is strictly optimized to achieve excellent air isolation, moisture resistance, tensile strength and low-temperature resistance. The material composition directly determines the vacuum retention effect, durability and food safety of the packaging bags. Most commercial vacuum bags adopt a multi-layer composite structure, and the mainstream raw materials include PA, PE, and PET, with different material collocations for ordinary household and industrial thickened models.

PA and PE composite material is the most common and classic formula for food-grade vacuum bags. PA, also known as nylon, serves as the outer structural layer. It features high toughness, strong puncture resistance and good tensile performance, which can effectively prevent the bag from being pierced by hard food residues or damaged by external extrusion. It greatly improves the durability of the vacuum bag. PE material is used as the inner contact layer, which is food-grade safe, non-toxic and odorless. It has excellent heat-sealing performance and softness, and will not harden or crack in low-temperature environments. This layer can directly contact fruits, cooked food and grains, meeting national food safety standards.

High-grade vacuum bags adopt PET and PE composite structure. PET material has high transparency, good stiffness and stable chemical properties. It can make the vacuum bag flat and beautiful with clear visibility of internal items, and it is not easy to deform after vacuum pumping. Matched with the food-grade PE inner layer, this composite material has stronger oxygen barrier and moisture-proof capabilities than ordinary PA/PE bags. It is widely used for long-term preservation of high-value foods such as seafood, meat products and dried fruits, effectively delaying food oxidation and deterioration.

In addition, individual special vacuum bags will add aluminum foil layers to form aluminum-plastic composite structures, which achieve full light shielding and ultra-high barrier performance. In general, the mainstream vacuum bags on the market are based on PA/PE and PET/PE composite materials. The layered material design perfectly combines strength, safety and sealing performance, making vacuum packaging efficient and safe for daily and industrial storage.
