Common Sealing Problems of Vacuum Packaging Bags

Time:2026-05-25 21:23:59 Author:haokai Click:88

The sealing edge is the most critical and fragile part of vacuum packaging bags. The tightness and flatness of the seal directly determine the vacuum retention ability, shelf life and food safety of packaged products. In daily packaging and industrial production, sealing failure is the leading cause of vacuum bag air leakage, bulging and food spoilage. There are several typical common sealing problems for vacuum packaging bags, including incomplete sealing, wrinkled and uneven seals, burnt sealing edges, local pinhole leakage and delayed sealing failure. These problems are mainly caused by improper operation, equipment parameter errors and unclean bag openings.

Incomplete sealing, also known as virtual sealing,is the most frequent issue. It refers to the phenomenon that the bag mouth seems closed visually but fails to form effective molecular fusion. This problem usually occurs when food residues, oil stains, water droplets and powder remain on the sealing area. The sundries isolate the plastic film layers, preventing hot melting and adhesion.Although the surface looks sealed, tiny gaps exist, leading to slow air penetration. After several days of storage, the vacuum bag will gradually lose vacuum and bulge, which greatly shortens the fresh-keeping period of food.

Wrinkled sealing edges and uneven sealing are also common defects.Excessive bag mouth tension, uneven placement or inconsistent machine pressure will cause folds on the sealing strip.Wrinkled seals form intermittent weak bonding areas. These uneven parts cannot withstand external extrusion and atmospheric pressure changes, and are prone to cracking and air leakage during transportation and stacking. In addition, overheating temperature will cause burnt and yellowed sealing edges.Excess high temperature melts the plastic film excessively, resulting in brittle and cracked edges that lose tensile strength and sealing stability.

Local pinhole leakage and delayed sealing failure often lead to hidden safety hazards.Tiny pinholes caused by fine hard particles or overheating burnout are difficult to observe with naked eyes, causing invisible slow leakage.Meanwhile, unqualified low-temperature sealing will make the seal firm at first but gradually peel off with temperature changes and time accumulation. To avoid these problems, users must keep the bag opening clean, adjust appropriate temperature and pressure parameters, and ensure flat placement during sealing.

In conclusion, most vacuum bag failures stem from sealing defects.Standardized operation and parameter control can effectively solve common sealing problems, maintain long-term vacuum stability and avoid food deterioration and waste.
